Paris Texas is a great movie. Ive seen it about 4 times now. Melancholia is in the post to me from "They Who Shall Not Be Named" (tm.Morris.) so I will give my views on it later.
The last "deep" film i watched was Almodovaars The Skin I Live In. Really enjoyed that, bonkers as a fruit bats bum but really compelling and the female (?) lead was stunning.

Melancholia. I'm in a minority here but I liked it. Visually it was beautiful and the music was perfect. Kirsten Dunst gave a brilliant performance but the rest of the cast was just adequate. It was definitley her film.
Plot wise...ok not so hot here but to be fair it was all about the characters journey through depression and the plot was not the main thing.
I think it's a blu ray buy for me and 3.5/5

The Woman In Black

Ooh I do love a good ghost story with jumpy frights. I'm bad at watching them though - sorry to the random old couple who decided to sit right next to me...

I reckon Daniel Radcliffe was pretty decent in this, and I loved his hair.

Kill List.
Ok so I went into this one cold. Didn't know much about it but gave it a try.
Seriously the most confusing film I've seen for ages. It starts off in a very naturalistic manner ( think Shane Meadows) and seems to be about a domestic life falling apart. soon though the mood changes and there is some horrendously realistic violence ahead. At this point the film is watchable but not special.
Then it happens. The final quarter of the movie feels like it comes from another films middle. It's bizarre, confusing, shot really badly with hand held camera and dark sets and then finishes.Abruptly and with no explanations. I really don't know what to make of this film. I guess it warrants a star but.. weird. 1/5

The horror movie ending is signalled very early on when the girlfriend leaves the symbol on the bathroom mirror.

Quite how they end up exactly where they end up is a bit too convenient. I liked it, but I kinda knew going in what to expect.

Journey 2

Took the son to see this in IMAX. Lots of silly fun, and looked great in IMAX, and The Rock is always worth watching even though he cant really act.

3/5 (in IMAX)

We Need to Talk About Kevin

The thought of being saddled with a kid like this is the most terrifying thing I can imagine. Therefore the most hair-raising film about a dysfunctional teen since Thirteen. Swinton should have received an Oscar nom, deffo.

Knuckle

A film about 3 feuding gypsy families set over a 12 year period. It was quite a good documentary into their lives and why they want to give each other a good hiding. I'm glad it had subtitles as I wouldn't have understood most of what they were saying. Some good old fashioned bare knuckle punch ups and the fights were mostly always fair with the elder gypsy men breaking it up if it got out of hand.

Default this must be the place

when i first saw Sean Penn reminded me of Robert Smith... A lot. The film is a road movie telling the story of an ex rock star who is really unhappy and bored of his life, trying to grow up. Pretty good...
