Hanna
Second viewing and still so enjoyable. A terrific blend of Bournesque thrills and spills combined with a delightfully offbeat and quirky vibe. Tom Hollander is cruel, calculating and camp adding a hilarious twist to his character which shouldn't work yet does, perfectly. Ronan as Hanna is superb, Blanchett is solid and Bana is believably hard as nails, delivering a convincing accent and no nonsense demeanor which serves the story well. From the varied locations (fairytale in places) to the brilliant soundtrack and pulse pounding one shot sequence midway through, this film is a delight and one I'd highly recommend. 4/5 |

Shame
A brave performance from Michael Fassbender (read:gets his cock out at every opportunity) is the best reason to see this. He's one of those actors you could happily watch doing his dishes. I wasn't quite sure what to make of the film itself though. Stylishly directed by Steve McQueen, it left me unsure about how I was supposed to feel towards the characters. Fassbender is a slave to his sex drive, which begins to threaten his work and well-being but he has a stunning apartment and an easy charm which allows him the pick of any woman he wants. Sure it's a completely unfulfilling experience for him, but there are people with real world problems out there. |

The Change Up:
One guy is an uptight lawyer, aren't they always? The other says inappropriate shit in front of kids and the two would never have been friends past school. But for the purposes of a shit film, they take a piss and swap lives. Have a few life lessons thrown at them and can still eat a bowl of fuck for all the 2 hours this shit went on. Atleast the McGuffin of taking a piss didn't insult. It did make me wonder why a Whedon or someone hasn't done more with the body swap idea. Actually drag it out for a one off series and explore the emotional resonance something like this might have. When they were taking the premise seriously it put forward some interesting ideas. |

American Pie - Reunion.
Yes, I know, shame on me. I have a slight soft spot for the original being of pretty much the same age and mindset as the characters in the first one when it was first released. This is passable silliness. Milf. Milf. |

Watched Army Of Darkness again last night. Such a great film. The weakest in the trilogy yet so, so much fun!

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
Very good. Much better than I was expecting and a vast improvement over the awful third one. At the end of the day it's not much more than a series of set pieces, but they're all very clever and exciting. Chronicle Also much better than I was expecting. Cloverfield meets X-Men in an imaginative spin on the tired 'found footage' genre. Lots of fun to be had with this one. |

Tropic Thunder:
After a strong start this one petered out and was just Ok. I'd much rather a film about Simple Jack than Les Grossman, though. |

A strange one. I was expecting a blood soaked orgy of misanthropy but got a re-imagining of Super! It was watchable and certainly relatable as someone who can empathise with the characters point of view, but the whole thing was kind of rendered pointless by the supporting characters deceit. Or maybe that was the point... It's to it's credit that it didn't just throw a lot of blood at the screen and go for shocks and actually tried to have a point. But this was pretty preachy and, for anyone who's sat aghast at My Super Sweet 16. TOWIE and The X Factor, nothing they haven't opined themselves. And that's part of the problem, because it wasn't some violence drenched movie it doesn't really hold any interest after the first socio-political rant. |

I Saw the Devil - intense, bloody and a return to form for Korean cinema. It's the ultimate revenge film.
