Apocalypse Now = still mind blowing
A roller coaster ride of pacing and dripping in atmosphere. Kurtz's reveal is perfect, and the acting of both Sheen and Brando deserved Oscar nominations. A masterpiece.

Moonrise Kingdom - typical Wes Anderson movie. I liked it but I might never be able to erase the picture of Harvey Keitel in a boyscouts uniform from my mind

It will always be a great movie. I expect to hear about a remake any day now.

Reqium For A Dream, why did I watch this again? Once was more than enough, its like a sledgehammer, and by that I mean its message is like a kick in the face, a little too obvious for my tastes. Its a very well made film, with a strong message, Ellen Burstyn out acted literally everyone to the point of making them look stoopid. Over-rated, yep, but still good, in its own horrific, bleak way. 4/5

Glenngary Glenn Ross. The script is so tight you dont even have to watch it, just listening would be enough, bar the occasional spot of flat Directing, superb all round. 5/5

The Help

Finally got around to watching this. The wife cried, I got a lump in my throat. The acting was superb, really enjoyed this film.

A Monster in Paris
Found this for £6 and, being an animation fanatic thought I'd give it a chance and I'm so glad I did. It's the story of a (giant) flea who becomes a singer, with the usual bad guy out to make a name for himself and quirky characters out to save the day.
Like the fantastic Rango, this one doesn't aim for any particular market, it's just a fantastic story well told. The animation and character design is great, if not mindblowing, and the story is told with out a lot of whooping and hollering but unfolds at a gentle pace without being flabby. There are a few scenes that are brilliantly atmospheric and the songs were just fantastic.
This yet another belting animated movie that will lost in the shadows of louder movies but, like Rango and How to Train Your Dragon deserves an audience.

Iron Sky

So bad its actually quite good. Nazi's have camped out on the dark side of moon since the end of the war and decide to attack the earth.

I just watched Chronicle. I am shocked at what they accomplished on that budget. Makes me think the $200m blockbuster budgets on other films go towards paying the prostitutes.

Cargo

Swiss Sci-fi drama
m..meh. This started out promisingly, with some hints of atmosphere and tension. Unfortunately it ran out of thrust, like the jet pack on one of their spacesuits. Some pretty imagery and an interesting idea which didn't pan out.. can't recommend.

friday the 13 part 9 jason goes to hell

usually im a sucker for these movies but i hated this one. didn't they learn from part 5 that a movie without jason dosnt work (with the exception of 1 but thats cause he hadn't been properly introduced )
the only good part was that tiny shot showing the necronomicon and freddys hand.

I've always had a soft spot for the Jason films, like you say parts 5 and 9 are poor. My faves are the one i space and the one where he takes Manhatten, even though he only gets there at he end!
