Default The Man With the Iron Fists

If you've got nothing better to do, it's a great film

But I'm not sure a lot of people will go and see it because they will assume it's crap. But that's the point, it takes itself SO seriously it's actually funny.

Everyone overacts to such a great degree you could almost think it was a black comedy rather than a serious martial arts film.

If you think of it as what Blazing Saddles was for westerns, you won't be disappointed, there is everything you could want in this film, from Expendables levels of violence to Rambo 4 levels of blood and guts to a fairly haphazard plot line which sort of makes sense, but sometimes feels it needs to explain stuff without actually taking the plot along any further.

Just put your brain on autopilot and sit back and enjoy.

It's a 4 star film from this man (but perhaps it's not going to be the sort of film your gran will like).

Default Alien 3

Bald is beautiful but doesn't' mean impressive. Sigourney Weaver's third reprise as Ellen Ripley failed to create a lasting impression unlike the prequels. The movie remains the shadows of the prequels - the simple and plain plot adds to the factor. A better treatment could have save the film - Fox Studios should have gone for a much experienced david fincher should to fiddle with such a huge franchise

Pitch Perfect
Enjoyable silliness in this acapella singing comedy.

The Impossible
Offt, ticket should have come with free packet of tissues. Emotionally draining and powerful. Could feel the reaction from the audience in form of audible gasps and sniffing.

Default Gran Torino

I am totally surprised by the manner Eastwood done this movie. Totally effortlessly and effectively, he just steals the show!! Truly, he is a legend !! Also loved the manner of roping the car as a main character of the movie

Deadgirl. Quite disturbing but very unusual and inventive horror. Interesting central idea featuring an unkillable girl in a basement. Also only £1 from poundland at the moment. 2.5/5

The Hobbit. More of an adventure and a lot less boring than the Rings films. There's definitely enough material for a second film but not a third. The 3D looks baaaaaad though. Trees and scenery in the background look like cardboard cut outs. 3/5

Willard. Brilliant 'almost-horror' film with Crispin Glover as an oddball who begins to make friends with the rats in his basement. Glover is great. The best film I've seen for a few months. 4/5

The Amazing Spider-man. I honestly preferred this to Raimi's first Spiderman film. It's a much more exciting film with a far better villain and a cooler Spiderman, but overall too similar to Raimi's to justify a new franchise so soon. 3/5

Cosmopolis

This film is basically just a series of heavily theoretical discussions about capitalism and digital culture, strung together with a very slight narrative. If that sounds like your thing, and/or if you enjoyed Waking Life, then go for it. If not, avoid. Aside from that - its atmospheric at times, and Robert Pattinson is actually rather good in it, and the points it makes about its subject matter are intelligent. Also, visually, its quite something as well. In the end, taken for what it is, I think it holds up.

3.5/5

The Watch

Absolute crap, so bad that I turned it off after about 40 mins to watch Celebrity Big Brother. What the hell was Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn thinking of with this unfunny boring film.

I thought it was pants, pretentious boring pants. And I say that as someone who generally likes Cronenberg films and doesn't hate Robert Pattinson (as long as he's not in Twatlight).

Default Taken 2

Something that dont have a life outside the cinema hall. I love Taken 2 because I was in a mood to watch something like that & of course the key to enjoy such movies is control your expectations. The movie do has an awesome car chase and a beautiful roof top chase. but beyond that, nothing is there :
