Man on Ledge - Not afraid to jump

Heres my two cents on:

"Man on a Ledge" - 2012
Director: Asger Leth
Writer: Pablo F. Fenjves
Cast: Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks and Jamie Bell

In short: A nice film to kick back and relax to on a rainy day. Imagine "Phone Booth" meets "Inside Man". Doesn't try to outwit the audience as much as much as "Inside Man" however.

Don't let the name fool you, some people said to me "Isn't that going to be really boring, its a film about a man on a ledge". NO! It's far from that, there are nice sub plots running through the film and it's pace never ceases to slow down. As a viewer I became connected with the characters and actually cared if their plans succeeded or failed miserably.

Sam Worthington holds his ground as a leading man, his accent did sound a wee bit 'muddled' at times but his deep and croakily cool delivery of lines overrides any care of his, 'USA!', authenticity.

Jamie Bell and Genesis Rodriguez's chemistry was enjoyable to watch as they provide the comic relief for the film, Mr Bell has come a long way from "Billy Elliot", however still gives audiences a nice little twirl in one scene.

The film's story is nice and tight, an alright use of dialogue and it's plot twists aren't amazingly surprising, however, as a viewer you're happy to go with it. They don't try to make the plot twists overly complicated but enough so to peak your interest.

All in all it was a good film to watch, you know where you stand with it. Shot rather nicely in places, despite a bit of a lazily shot car chase, it's worth a trip to your local cinema on a rainy wednesday afternoon and using your 2-4-1 offer on.
