Default Screening club codes posted on forum before the newsletter comes out.

I`m reposting this as I didn`t get a reply on the Screening code thread.

Can I ask why Screening club codes are posted on the forum hours before the newsletter comes out? LIKE HERE

The code was posted on the forum today at 12.12pm, the newsletter came through at 1.37pm. Last week the forum post was at 2.33pm, the newsletter came in at 5.41pm. I tried the code 30 minutes after the newsletter was posted last week and 50 minutes after it was posted this week, neither time were there any tickets left.

As I said in my post on the screening code thread, it`s especially annoying as all the earlier forum post seems to achieve is to allow people to take the code and distribute it around the net. So, many of the people getting the tickets may not even be newsletter subscribers.

Again, I appreciate the work you do in providing these tickets, but these early posts even say "Get in quickly before the newsletter goes out!". It`s a real two fingers up to newsletter subscribers.

Hi Crowman,

Sorry about not getting back to you on the other thread...

I'll flag this to the team. This was originally meant to be a small perk for forum users but if the codes are getting posted elsewhere on the t'internet, then I agree it defeats the point...

Be interesting to see if you find it any easier to get a screening if we stop posting them here first. The newsletter goes out to thousands of users. I wouldn't be surprised if the emails go out in batches, so if you're not in the first batch, the codes could well be being snatched up by legit TF newsletter subscribers... I'll enquire about the batch thing as well.

Keep you posted here.

Liz

Hello Liz,

Thanks very much for your reply.

I hope I will find it easier to get a screening.

Cheers,

Crowman, If you aren't already its worth signing up to get emails directly from SeeFilmFirst.

Hi Zippykins, I`ve been signed up to Seefilmfirst/Showfilmfirst for about 3/4 years, and in that time I`ve had about 3 E-mails from them, never for a film near me unfortunately.

Thank you for your reply, though.

I'm in the same boat - signed up to Seefilmfirst but only get emails not related to the screenings, plus by the time the e-letter appears in my inbox the screening is usually full up.

I have subscribed to the newsletter for well over three years now (and also a subscriber to the magazine so a wee bit frustrated at not getting tickets having seen it in the magazine).

A quick search on the internet shows the code was already posted elsewhere before the newsletter even came out (and even before the time you mentioned) which leads me to believe that the newsletter gets sent out in batches. I would probably have got the code faster if I were subscribed to the other places on the internet as clearly the people who received it in the newsletter have posted it elsewhere.

If you are saying you had no luck at 11.58am then I definitely had no chance. My newsletter did not arrive until 1.09pm by which time most locations had already sold out! Therefore unless you are in the initial batch of emails of newsletters being sent out or you live in a location that isn't popular and takes longer to fill up, it seems almost impossible to get tickets.

I'm all for the newsletter but only IF it gets sent out to everybody at the same time. At least I had a bit more luck with the forum (although have missed out on some occasions).
