Default Superman Returns for a sequel?

Superman Returns was a dreadfully ********** movie by any stretch of the imagination. Brandon Routh nailed what was always going to be an impossible job for most, good pacing, sharp dialogue, iconic set-pieces made powerful through wonderful special effects...this movie had it all. Few down points were mabye Kate Bosworth as Louis Lane and I never did like that Louis Lane would be able to carry Superman's baby...he is an alien. Anyhow, i lose track. What I am here about is that I have heard NOTHING talking of what for me is an inevitable sequel...please, please let it happen. Spiderman3! A new Hulk! Both absolute trash!

Default Please get the name right

The character is called Lois Lane and Louis Lane...Please can you just learn who the characters are before commenting on them. I agree that Kate Bosworth was crap, very much in the same vein as the present Mrs Cruise was in Batman Begins, thank God for Maggie Gyllenhaal in The Dark knight.

Another Superman movie would be nice with Brandon Routh but I doubt we will see that as Bryan Singer will have enough on his plate with the rumoured Battlestar Galactica Movie. Oh well....

I'm not sure we were watching the same film. Superman Returns was an appalling film in every respect. Routh was like cardboard (although cardboard actually has more charisma), and Bosworth was an embarrassment. The pace was slow, Singer's direction was pedestrian, and the whole film was completely pointless. It was a detestable piece of film making, because it offered neither entertainment nor art. If there is going to be a sequel then get rid of Routh, Bosworth and Singer...in fact overhaul the whole bloody thing and get someone who can make something even vaguely interesting. In fact, I'll offer the job to my cat.

Not often I agree with Jonesy, but in this case...

Basically, if you have to explain who Superman is at the start of your film using title cards, you have failed at making a good Superman movie.

If the opening shot of your multi-million dollar movie is the back of Kevin Spacey's head - you have failed at making a good superman movie.

If Superman hangs around outside Lois Lane's house like a peeping tom - you have failed to make a good superman movie.

If Superman flies into childrens bedrooms and watches them sleep, like some weird paedophile then you have most definitely failed to make a good superman movie.

Superman Returns = Epic Fail.

Most superheroes have the ability to move with the times or at least look like they do. The overgrown boyscout with his undies on the outside of his clothes just is not one of them. He should be retired.

He is so f*cking boring as a super hero, he has no layers, the only difference to him is that hsi alter-ego is the one he hides behind, who he really is is the superhero. Its so predictable, his only weakness is Kryptonite, hmmmmm, wonder what will be his almost undoing this week?

As far as Superman Returns goes. IT WAS DIRE. More plotholes than a Tory manifesto and a seriously bad cast. it was mostly a rehash of another ( far superior ) movie and should have gone straight to DVD. Higgins you are so wrong on this one.

Well, he manages destroy any fond memories I had for the old movies, if that counts as anything. It took me a good 6 months before I could watch the originals with Christopher Reeves. Glad I did pull them back out tho, terrible Singer directed memories were wiped pretty darn quickly....there's a lesson here
