The new Silent Hill film is actually getting an alright cast.

The first film was a guilty pleasure of mine. Silly but very atmospheric it's very in keeping with the games.

It does get a bit silly towards the end but it has a great look and you're right about the atmosphere, dark and creepy. For a film inspired by a game it's surprisingly decent.

the sequal takes all this on board and is far better for it.

[REC]3 has begun production. Supposedly it's set after the possession virus has escaped the building but also has elements of a prequel story too. The writer/ director has an online production blog which unsurprisingly is difficult to read unless you speak the lanuage. Here's a translation of an early entry.
