I saw the stage show last year, it was ok, fairly weak storyline stringing all the songs together. So I wasn't sure how they'd make it work as a film. They've changed the story a bit but its still pretty poor.
There's a little bit of fun to be had in seeing the characters belt out some classic 80s rock, but Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta as the leads are lacking any charisma. Much to my surprise Tom Cruise is rather enjoyable, a decent singer and not that annoying. Unlike Russell Brand doing some kind of dodgy Ozzy style Brummie accent. |

It looks like it might be one of those guilty pleasure kind of films... I might push out the boat and watch it on DVD.
