Default Skyfall

The reviews are all pretty darn good. And Twitter is abuzz from the press screenings... I'm in!

I think it looks pretty damn promising, my only reservation from the trailer is Javier Bardem as the baddy.

I agree, I thought he looked awful but the reviews are all positive about his performance. Bardem was utterly terrifying in No Country For Old Men so I have faith.

Yeah I think he should be good too but don't know what they were thinking with that "mommy was bad" clip. Maybe it plays better in the film.

Touted as the best Bond film ever, its a bloody good movie but not the best Bond film ever. For me that would be Goldfinger.

Skyfall starts off exactly how you want a Bond film to start off with some cracking action, the rest of the film isn't as action packed as some of the Bonds but when it comes its well worth it. Bond has a lot more depth in this film and less gadgets and Dame Judy has more to do than any of the previous M's have done.

Graig is once again superb as Bond, Dame Judy is superb as M and Javier Bardem is superb as the bad guy.

Think I might go and see it again.

Default i saw SKYFALL yesterday at 5.20 pm

it was great
but not as amazing as i hoped it would be
compared to other films like... Girl dragaon Tattoo
or the HURT LOCKER
it was very predictable and kind of tired looking
Javier bardem was the exact same as pacino in Oceans 13 he was just OK as the bad guy
but he had no chance to be real scary because these films cant have graphic violence or real menace
(that didnt stop ledger and hardy playing REAL scary bad guys in TDK and TDKR )

a real bond movie is one you wanna watch again straight after you see it
i have no plans to watch SKYFALL ever again

I think I'd agree with that. Except that You Only Live Twice is the best for me. All down to personal taste, I guess. Certainly the best in recent memory. Definitely want to see it again. If they could lose all the Bond-related adverts beforehand, I'd be grateful. Too many.

I really enjoyed it. It's not often you leave the cinema with a big smile on your face but I genuinely did after this. Javier Bardem was great, but there was just something about it that I didn't really find that menacing? Maybe it's just the way the Bonds are, the psychos are never the ungodly terror types you might find in a film with a higher certificate.

I enjoyed it too Zippy, but I know what you mean about a slight lack of menace, certification is probably the reason - it's always a compromise. I also wish I'd seen less key scenes on TV beforehand.
I loved the opening credits; always a highlight and Skyfall's were no exception. There was a good sense of humour in this one. Less Bond related ads before the feature would have been preferable, as someone already said on this thread...thought they were never going to end.

***MASSIVE SPOILERS***

Really enjoyed this too, top notch all round. Craig was great as Bond again, gave yet more humility to the role without being at all schmaltzy.
Dench was superb, and I was surprised how gutted I was that she died, although Bond has a great new "M" in Ralph Fiennes who did a good job with really very little screen time, Naomi Harris was perfectly spunky as, the eventually revealed, Moneypenny, as was the new Q.
Bardem was brilliant, I found him a creepy, dangerous and, as a character, he felt very unpredictable. True, as has been said, the rating probably stopped him from being as scary as Anton Chigurgh, but the potential was certainly there. The part when he is flirting with Bond was brilliant, how better to flap the unflappable Bond than by coming on to him? His deformity was suitably horrible without resorting to grue too.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the superb job Roger Deakins did. The film looked gorgeous throughout with some stunning images. Silva walking over the marsh with the fire behind him looked, and more importantly, felt, epic, as did the fight in the skyscraper in Shanghai, achingly cool, with Bond and Patrice silhouetted in front of all that blue, not sure who is who, it was brilliantly filmed. I also felt that the relatively low key third act was a welcome change, gritty and grungy battle with sawn-offs and unlikely comedy, and Albert Finney is always worth it too.
All in all, a very good Bond film, techincally probably the best one ever made, certainly up there with the best when it comes to story, character developlment and action.

I was impressed.

4.5/5
