May contain Spoilers.
Hmmmmmm, it's got Statham in it, it's got Lopez in it, it's even got Lopez being a little bit nudey in it, but it's missing that "Can't quiet put my finger on it" thing. It's entertaining, it's a bit boring in places, it's got action in it, the way the various characters roles are intertwined it in are fairly simple but complicated, it's even got a few scenes where you think "I know that's going to happen" before asking yourself "Why didn't that thing which the film virtually built up to for that scene happen?" etc etc. But it's just missing that certain hook which keeps your attention. It may be Michael Chiklis not being a good enough lead villain after watching a few weeks worth of Vegas on the telly. It might be the way the cop sort of drops in from time to time like a token cop. It may even be the way that the film scrolls through days without telling you it's been a few days between scenes, leaving you to figure it out when they say "Saturday" and you think "Hang on, wasn't it Saturday today?" It may even be the fact that Statham's punch ups are now toned down a little to make them more realistic instead of that frantic pace that we are used to, including all manner of Jackie Chanisms thrown into the mix. Overall I didn't feel it was a waste of time or money or effort, there were only 10 of us in the cinema (so we didn't upgrade to the comfy seats and just sat there for free lol). 3.5 out of 5 when it should really have been deserving of at least a 4. |

Does The Stath kick anyone's arms off in it? The only reason most people watch Jason Statham films is to see him punching peoples eyebrows off and stuff like that.

There are a few novel deaths in the film, some telegraphed and some you never see coming and yet others you anticipate and then never materialise.
The Stath has been turned down a notch so don't expect Crank levels of madness, but I would say that at least 95% of the violence is on a highly believable level. There is also a fairly poor bit of cgi to look out for. It won't disappoint fans, and there is the added bonus of an almost nekid J-Lo to boot ![]() |

I admit that I really enjoyed both Crank films. I think they're trying to market Statham as the new Bruce Willis because they have a similar look. Tight lipped, wide faced and tall foreheaded. He lacks Willis charisma though.

I think he's been typecast as a modern day Dolph Lundgren, all simmering rage underneath that dark and troubled exterior.
The 2 roles that would be perfect for him in my onion would be a reboot of The Punisher or, with a Wayne Rooney style barnet replacement, the next JB. His only failing is his terrible accent, he must have gone to the Russell Crowe school of talking lol |

Ah but his ropey accents are all part of the charm!
I agree this isn't one of his best (much preferred Safe) but it still delivers what you want from The Stath - some generic action scenes and dry one liners. And I did love the scene with Pipsy the Papillon. |
