If there is a god up there he is having a laugh. Today at work Mrs Cat was given a gift.
A year's sub to ....that's right, lovefilm.

This was my reaction

Obviously I'll use anything useful that's free, and it's a nice gift....but seeing those envelopes come through the door again is going to take some getting used to.

once more, for old times sake
because I LOVEFiLM so fucking much

haha, no they don't. There was a moment of shocked silence from Mrs Cat as she stared down at the gift. Then she gave them a big smile and said "Brilliant! Thanks so much" but she was thinking: how the hell am I going to tell Morris? she broke the news gently.

(The following rant is to bring anyone new to the forum, who doesn't know why this cat hates lovefilm, up to speed)

I will always and ever hate them, as long as they practise throttling.
It offends me. Why should you receive poorer and slower service simply because you return discs more quickly than some others?
Let's look at this logically - you're a long-standing customer, therefore you deserve less service? How does that work? In these competitive times, when everyone is struggling for a pound - Is that like rewarding your patronage with a slap in the face? From where I sit: Yes.

wikipedia:
LoveFilm came in for criticism from users over its claim to offer "unlimited" DVD rentals. Some users reportedly found the company used long delays at the shipping stage to reduce the number of films a month a customer can rent. In 2006, before the merger with ScreenSelect, LoveFilm was subject of complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority over the use of the word "unlimited" in their advertising. The ASA upheld the complaint. It was revealed that they practised throttling, where high-volume customers may experience a greater likelihood of (slower) shipments from alternate warehouses, and selections from lower in their rental list. They are also less likely to receive replacement shipments on the same day a disc is received.

The company itself claimed that this
"fair usage" policy means all customers get a similar service.

My hatred for them is not irrational. I hate what they've done to the DVD rental industry, I hate the fact that they shut down a good service I was using (amazon) by merging it with their shitty outfit.
I hate their smug marketing, aggressive or indifferent customer service, their policies and their arrogant public profile. "You don't like us?, Tough titty kitty- there IS nothing else, we've taken over the rest LOL"

I just hate them, based on the service I've received.

I know. Amazon bought Lovefilm (they originally owned 42% of it) and implemented their policies and way of doing things while I was still signed up to amazon's former, superior DVD rental service. Then it went downhill so I couldn't miss it.

Avert your eyes Moz....

So I've ended up giving my precious pennies to Lovefilm. There was an offer etc etc. I bet I'm tied in for life now...

But anyway - any tips on list management to make sure you get the stuff you want? I've just started adding random stuff and its all set to medium priority at the moment. And what does 'short wait' mean? That I'm likey to get it quicker, or does 'short wait' really mean you'll be waiting ages?

Also - 2 disc sets of a movie - do they send you both bits in different envelopes? I just want to see the feature not the rest of the stuff... - see problems already!

Guyver's the man to answer you best, Zip. He's engaged to marry lovefilm. But as a basic tip, put 4 or 5 of your most wanted titles on High.
If they ever send me The Grey I'll fall backwards in shock..

Short wait means you'll be waiting ages and ages and ages. That was one of the first things I learned when I signed up to them for the first time, years ago.

obligatory

Cheers Moz, Guyver I await your tips!

The only thing showing 'short wait' is Lars and The Real Girl, trying to fill in my Ryan Gosling gaps....
