Hey everyone, at the risk of sounding a bit cliche, i'd just like to know what everyones favourite films are. Even if its just the one or a HUGE list of films they love. If your compiling a list, it doesn't need to be in order, but if thats how you want to do it, thats fine. As a new user i'm not sure if a thread like this has been posted before, but hey, any excuse for a conversation. Thanks
I guess as i'm the one posting this thread i need to put my own list so here it is. Excuse me for the unprofessional way i explain my choices ![]() Apocalypse Now - I just love the beginning when 'The End' by The Doors is played, just an iconic moment for me. The music a film has really plays a huge role for me anyway, just adds to the whole experience. I also love the famous assault on the 'charlie' camp when Kilgore (appropriate name) plays Wagner. To think, its all because the waves 'crash both ways'. Forest Gump - Don't judge me, as i said the soundtrack is a big thing for me, and this film has an EXCELLENT one. I think it really sucks you in as you see his life develop through those amazing decades. The subtle (or not so) references to famous people such as Elvis really make the film worth watching. All round a nice, spirit lifting film. Goodfellas - I could watch this all day (and i have). When they have to kill everyone off after the La Tonza heist is one of the many parts in the film that makes you really question the former morals of the gang that lure you in at the start. The way you see former friends switch completely so save their own skin is a real highlight of the film and makes it so much more dramatic then it already is. Apart from the amazing soundtrack, the highlight of the film for me is definatley the way in which Henrys life spirals out of control when drugs are added into the mix or illegal activities he is trying to juggle. My personal opinion of this film is that the moral (in which every film as one) is that money can draw you in and take over your life, and once it is taken away from you, you will do anything to get it back... but i suppose we all knew this anyway. ![]() The rest i'm just going to list as it's getting late but they are all amazing films -Trainspotting -The Lives of Others -Pan's Labyrinth -Team America -Dodgeball -Zoolander -The Godfather Trilogy -LOTR Trilogy -Dead Mans Shoes -The Business -Football Factory -Nightmare Before Christmas -Jarhead -Donnie Darko -Taxi Driver Thanks ![]() Last edited by Kiba.; 12-08-2012 at 04:42 PM. |

I made a list a while ago of my favourite films, but because there are so many greats I might have forgotten about I restricted it only to ones that I own.
1. Fight Club 2. Taxi Driver 3. Donnie Darko -------------- 4. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 5. Malcolm X 6. Goodfellas 7. Pan's Labyrinth 8. LOTR trilogy 9. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 10. Matrix 11. Pulp Fiction --------------- 12. Se7en 13. Akira 14. Once Upon a Time in the West 15. The Shawshank Redemption 16. Sideways 17. Sin City 18. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang --------------- 19. Goldfinger 20. X-Men 2 At the very top of my list, I could only order the films by how affecting I found them personally. Like I said, I made this list a while ago and so there should be plenty of films that I've bought since then that would go high up on the list, and also it seems that every time I see any of these films, they go a little higher in the list. ![]() Oh, and my least favourite film of all time is Forrest Gump. ![]()

1. Taxi Driver
2. Star Wars 3. The Godfather 4-10: It's a Wonderful Life Blade Runner Casablanca American Graffiti Citizen Kane Vertigo The Last Picture Show 10-20 Brazil Halloween The Exorcist Once Upon A Time In America Back to the Future Jaws Aliens 2001: A Space Odyssey Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Fight Club I too have to put a thumbs down on Forrest Gump, I'm afraid. I find it well made, but morally bankrupt. If anyone fancies spending an evening in a London pub debating how Gump is a work of revisionist history from the far right, I'll happily be there ![]() |

Wow, theres a few on there that i've seen, but not enough
Leon and Fight club being among them. You know the type, the ones you saw but didn't appreciate as much. Don't get me wrong, both great films but i was young. Seeing as though the reception to Forest Gump wasn't all that great, how about adding the worst films you have ever seen? The type that make you angry watching them, mine has got to be Sweeney Todd. I know in some peoples eyes Johnny Depp cant put a foot wrong in any film he's in, but the music (not singing) really ruined the film for me. I thought the one with Ray Winstone in it was alot better but i suppose that could be down to the fact of Tim Burtons film being based on the musical, while Dave Moores being more about the actual story. But coming on to another point, if a director makes a film that everyone hates, has he not done he's job right? If your the type of person that feels film should provoke intense emotions, even if it is anger or frustration, then has the director not suceeded in his mission? Theres obviously no right or wrong answer, just down to preference i guess. I'd like to hear your views on this, or maybe i should make another thread ![]() Thanks |

When asked this I always want to pick something different, so my list stands out from others, but it never does.

Star Wars (77 edition) Raiders of the Lost Ark 2001: A Space Odyssey Blues Brothers Dances with Wolves Casablanca The Thing Aliens The Shawshank Redemption Last of the Mohicans 1492:Conquest of Paradise .... |

In no order whatsoever, these are the ones I can think of at the moment, as it generally depends what mood I'm in and what films I can remember.
