Default Pirates 4

There seems to be a lot of talk about the future Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Disney have only announced the return of Captain Jack Sparrow as far as I'm aware.

I read some random rumours on a site (too lazy to get link at the mo, maybe add tomorrow) that Tim Burton will direct and that it will spark off a second trilogy dealing with Sparrow's quest for the fountain of youth.

Not too sure what I make of it but A Burton-directed Pirates film would be sweet as.

Gotta disagree peep. Although I got some enjoyment out of the first three, another Pirates movie is more than I could stomach - whoever directs.

I don't think i could stomach another one either, I really enjoyed the first one, the second was okay and as for the third... Well...Don't get me started.
I love Burton and Depp and together they do make a great double act, but they should just leave Pirates alone now.

Pirates was at best a mediocre experience and the final part was an absolute abortion of a movie. As for Tim Burton directing..never in a million years. He swore after making the Batman movies that he wouldnt do another franchise film and I for one would HATE to see his genius associated with such over hyped garbage as the Pirates films. Tim Burton has many projects upcoming the main one being his reworking of Alice In Wonderland which is in pre production and due for release in late 2010. Thankfully and with luck this will prevent him having anything to do with Prats Of The Carribean 4.

The entire franchise has been appalling. Making a film from a bloody ride is ludicrous and the fact that people flocked to it in their millions is testament to how undiscerning so many cinema goers are. Dreadful, dreadful franchise. The whole idea of it makes me spit.

I heard they're going to pay Depp £32 million for it, which sets a new record for highest paid actor. No doubt he'll say "Oh I just love playing Captain Jack, blah blah" but we really know it's to pay for a new zoo or acquarium on his aptly named 'Fuck off' Island.

As a wise man once said (in Total Film issue 131), Johnny Depp is the Frank Lampard of Hollywood.
I guess then that POTC is Chelsea...rich, powerful and repulsive

I do like Jonny Depp though, Secret Window, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood are all great.
It all went downhill when he said that he wanted to do more childrens films.

Sounds a bit silly to me. Disney would not sell-out.. as for the Directors, it's not really their choice, only decision...
Maybe one day a great Pirates story will come, but Disney will have to focus on its projects...
