If the disc I want isn't on R2, I just find a Region 1 and get that. But, it's a pain if you have to deal with US sellers, if you're lucky a UK seller will have what you want; but they sometimes fleece you for more for it.

Make sure you're actually ordering the American version though. 3/8 of my Hellraiser collection have German packaging and subtitles .

Can the subtitles not be switched off?

There doesn't even seem to be menus on them. They are vanilla in the purest sense of the word.

Yup. eBay. And it's weird actually trying to ignore subtitles on a film. I could come up with some interesting movie quotes though.

It may have been mentioned already, but, Nightbreed.

And having recently gotten rid of my Region 1 player I am left with a box of 30+ movies that I cannot watch. Admittedly I am rebuying the ones I care about on blu-ray, but there are still some that havn't made it onto DVD in this country and I will miss.

The UK DVD and Blu-ray release of The Ward has been delayed for five feckin' months.

Guess I'll be getting a US version.
