From my cinema going experience, I now find that it is the adults who are now far more badly behaved than children. Granted I do not go and see too many films that will have a large audience of children but I don't have a problem with a child shouting or cheering their favourite super hero occasionally during a film.

For a long while, I only went to the cinema if it was a screening where I could get VIP seats because I knew the only people who would pay that much for a film would be people who actually want to sit quietly and enjoy the film. I went to see Lawless on Tuesday night and was subjected to two lads gossiping like a couple of teenagers all the way through the film.

It is simply beyond me why you would pay money to go and have a chat in the cinema. I find it incredibly difficult to concentrate on the film with someone talking near me or kicking the back of my seat.

I've never understood people who talk in the cinema, you've paid money to watch a movie so be quiet and watch it. You wanna talk?? Go to the bloody pub, it'd be a lot cheaper.
It is selfish of parents to take children who know they're not going to be quiet and are constantly up and down taking their kids the toilet or for sweets. I've recently started taking my daughter to films and she is quite behaved, even when I took her AND my nephew they were really good and were more interested in the film rather than getting up and down. If they were causing a problem I would not hesitate to get up and leave.
It's simply about having respect for other cinema goers.

I guess this was a bad experience, certainly one of the weirdest experiences I've ever had in a cinema.

It was getting on for 10 years ago and I'd decided to go and see Johnny English. The film was OK, few laughs and a few groans and the audience (it was more or less packed) behaved pretty well.

But then, as the credits rolled the most extraordinary thing happened; spontaneous applause. This wasn't a special preview or anything, just a regular Saturday afternoon as far as I can remember.

I remember thinking, well it was good but not that good. Never seen a film at the flicks since that has generated that level of appreciation. I suppose it's "bad" because even after all the amazing films I've seen at the cinema over the years I'm more likely to hear "Have you got the ticket for the carpark?" or "I'm desperate for a slash" rather than genuine appreciation for what we've all just seen.

I can't believe that after going to the cinema multiple times over many years, people breaking into applause for a shitty film rates as your bad cinema experience. Really?
Doesn't really compare to finding poo in a cup, sitting on a piss soaked seat, or finding your hood full of popcorn.

No, it certainly doesn't. But as I have never had the misfortune of finding poo in a cup, sitting on a piss soaked seat, or finding your hood full of popcorn it'll have to do.

I used to have a friend at Uni that insisted on laughing as loudly as possible at any and all slightly obscure jokes. I know he only did it to show everyone else in the cinema that he 'got' the joke that several people might miss, or simply just smile at (because it was quite a nice, subtle, snide aside rather than full on guffaw worthy). That used to hack me off, so I pooped in his Coke, peed on his seat and poured popcorn into his hood.

It was Jeff's hood, not mine. The poop was found in a Ben & Jerry's cup apparently.
It just occured to me that you must've been living a sheltered life, if people clapping is honestly the worst cinema experience you've had. Either that or you live in an extremely polite area, not a chavvy one like some of us.

The idea and intention is good - at least they're trying to do something...but it wouldn't do squat against the hardcore obnoxious twats that Jaykay has to put up with on a regular basis.

I think I'd feel less safe in a cinema if there was a lycra gimp sneaking about. That one didn't stand up at all. I bet there was a strap on.

My thoughts exactly.

What's to stop the ninja getting a smack upside the head and being told to fuck off?
