I think, as many others have said, that true, 100% "noir" films are a product of their time (I do enjoy 'neo-noir' when I catch them; I have yet to see a noir film from the time period, however). There are a fair few films I've seen with elements of the genre, stylistically speaking, and I've enjoyed them just as I've enjoyed most other film genres/ styles.
