Grosse Point Blank review

Film description

In a Nutshell:

Hitman attends his ten year high school reunion.

Even A Hit Man Deserves A Second Shot! /A comedy about a hit man, a high school reunion, and the girl he left behind.

'What am I gonna say? "I killed the president of Paraguay with a fork. How've you been?"'

'Hi, I'm Martin Blank, you remember me? I'm not married, I don't have any kids, but I'd blow your head off if someone paid me enough.'

'If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it's, well, broken.'

Hitman Martin Q Blank (John Cusack) is invited to his ten year high school reunion in his home town of Grosse Pointe Michigan.

After being urged by his secretary (Cusack's sister Joan) and his exasperated shrink (Alan Arkin) he reluctantly accepts the invitation and heads home, booking an assassination in town while he's there.

Unaware he's being pursued by two Government agents, a rival hitman who wants to unionise the profession, and another hired to kill him; Blank seeks to reconnect with old friends and the past love he ditched on prom night (Minnie Driver).

The film culminates in the reunion dance where Martin reconsiders his life and profession along to a cracking 1980s soundtrack, before breaking out some sharp kick boxing moves by the lockers.
