How I Won The War2

Richard Lester's 1967 adaptation of Patrick Ryan's novel illustrates just how ahead of his time the director was in terms of playing with the conventions of cinema. Intercutting his anti-war story with real battle footage, he has his actors talk not just to camera but to the filmmaker himself. At one point we even see a cinema audience watching the movie back home and commenting on it.
