An Eric Rohmer movie remade by Chris Rock? Recipe for total disaster? Surprisingly not. OK, most of the subtlety of Rohmer’s Love In The Afternoon gets blown away, but Rock serves up a lively and often perceptive comedy about marriage and (in)fidelity. His rising young Wall Street banker is married to a lovely woman, but the excitement (and the sex) has drained out of their marriage. Then, seductive ex-girlfriend of an old buddy sashays into his life… Clumsy moments are outweighed by the good ones – and Steve Buscemi is as ever a joy to watch. Sound extras, too.
