Iron Eagle II saw Louis Gossett Jnr’s dome-headed, rottweiler-mouthed fighter jock ‘Chappy’ Sinclair whipping a joint US/Russian taskforce into shape before bombing the Middle East back to the Stone Age. Then ludicrous piss-take Aces: Iron Eagle III had Goss tackling Colombian drug cartels using vintage WWII planes (no, seriously). Come back Maverick – the Eagle has crash landed.
