
A real winner in East Asia, Old Boy maestro Park Chan-wook's political-thriller crosshairs Korean brotherhood and the madness of war. Chan-wook's trademarks are all fertilising - - visual verve, tormented violence, sting-in-the-tail sign-off - - as Sympathy For Lady Vengeance star Lee Yeong-ae investigates a military murder on the split nation's North/South border. Uneven thrust and melodramatic lapses aside, this is another fine film for the director's vengeance-fuelled CV.
