
After the meandering disappointment of season two, Lost finds form again. And right off the bat, too – a blockbuster opening swiftly paving the way for the casual brutality that’s become the series’ signature (the first few episodes alone provide enough torture porn to get Eli Roth through the winter). The darkness only deepens as the focus of the desert-island mystery shifts away from the original air-crash survivors and onto the baddies of the piece, The Others. Smart move – and part of JJ Abrams and co’s masterplan all along, according to the extras. Mind you, will the series’ final minutes go down as the point where Lost jumped the shark? We (eagerly) await season four to find out…
