A quote from Walt himself, “Keep moving forward”, acts as both motto and moral in this latest Disney digi-toon. The Mouse House is treading water here with a flimsy confection that seems designed to plug the gap between Pixar’s Cars and Ratatouille. Filching elements from The Jetsons, Back To The Future II and The Matrix, it spins around abandoned boy genius Lewis, whose quest for his birthmother is put on hold when he’s time-machined into the future by a member of the eponymous mega-clan. Director Stephen J Anderson has fun larynxing the baddie, but the puddle-deep Robinsons exposes his direct-to-video background. After meeting the Robinsons we scarcely get to know them, while the finale fusses over loose ends. This is eye candy with a hollow centre.
