Paramount commissions a mafia-free drama

He redefined mafia stories with The Sopranos on television, so we do have to wonder how many studio executives asked David Chase for a little bada bing in his first script.
But Chase is well and truly over telling mob stories – and Paramount seems to understand, giving him a free hand to write what he wants. And, because he’s David Chase, he’s also getting as much time as he wants to write it. Probably because they don’t him sending the boys round to have a little chat. Oh, right… he’s done with mafia stuff.
Still, we can’t wait to see what he comes up with – the man is a writing genius. Variety can’t wait either.
