Lots of other heroes are getting their chance at a fresh movie interpretation, and now William Tell wants his shot.
Producers Frank Caruso and D Constantine Conte have ploughed their own money into getting a script – which is based on Friedrich von Schiller’s 1805 play about the legendary 14th century Swiss hero who had to shoot an Apple off his son’s head to win freedom from Austrian occupiers – written and a director (Ian Quinn) hired. They’ve even got someone to play Tell’s wife- Kiera Chaplin, granddaughter of Charlie.
Now they’re just (coughs, looks sheepish) holding out for a hero. Anyone? Anyone? No? It’s set to start shooting in the autumn and Variety is looking for a feather in its cap.
