I'm generally happy about the majority of winners but it really was a tough year for making my predictions. I am glad '12 Years a Slave' won Best Picture. It surely was a fresh and brutal look into slavery, made only more relevant due to more creeping reports of modern day slavery. 'Captain Phillips' was a close second for me. I have never been so on-the-edge of my seat for a drama/thriller. And wow! Tom Hanks. He was so good i actually forgot i was watching Tom Hanks and did a little cry for him at the end. Amazing! I knew 'Gravity' would sweep the boards with the visual and editing awards. The acting was not the best but i suppose her face fit so maybe that's why she got the nod? I regrettably haven't seen 'Dallas Buyers Club' yet but i no doubt believe they are fully deserved. I have only heard good things. Genuinely thought Leo Dicaprio would get it though. It looked like he had put all his blood, sweat and tears into that role. I was exhausted just watching him. I believe his time will come though. Final thought, glad 'Her' won something in the end. Saw it recently and for a film that sounded rather creepy and uncomfortable to watch, was so beautifully executed in this cute, romantic way that i couldn't tear my eyes away from it.

Lupita Nyong'o's speech was so graceful and humble, I am not ashamed to admit it made me tear up a little. Overall I thought it was a pretty good night, there wasn't any major snubs that I can think of and even Ellen did a good job at hosting.
