A new, improved Macbeth?

Bean and Swinton sign for Maybury’s user-friendly bard feature

Baz Luhrmann has already made Romeo + Juliet ‘street’ (i.e. adding pretty people, lots of guns and removing slabs of dialogue) and now The Jacket helmer John Maybury is set to make Macbeth more… accessible.

Actor and scribbler Vincent Regan (Troy) has tapped out a script called Come Like The Shadows and snagged Sean Bean to play the lead.

With Narnia nasty Tilda Swinton set to flesh out Lady Macbeth and Ocean’s Eleven lenser Steven Soderbergh onboard as a producer, Shadows is suddenly looking like a hot property.

The project is pencilled in for a Highlands shoot sometime in late autumn after Soderbergh wraps Ocean's Thirteen and Bean has finished slashing at the roadside for The Hitcher.

Calm down… you know what we mean!
