Aaron Eckhart signs for Battle: Los Angeles

Can he save the city?

Fresh from his tortured, villainous turn in The Dark Knight, Aaron Eckhart is returning to the side of good for Battle: Los Angeles.

Eckhart has signed on to play the leader of a Marine platoon who fight an evil alien army trying to destroy Hollywood, Santa Monica, and, we’ll say, ice cream?

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning’s director Jonathan Liebesman is at the helm, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Neal Moritz producing

With Neal Moritz as its producer, we expect a loud, visceral but probably very silly action epic. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

The film has yet to set a start date, but if the fires raging in areas around LA get any bigger, the production won’t have to look far for scorched terrain.
