Aaron Eckhart and The Visitor’s Richard Jenkins are planning to join Johnny Depp’s next pic, Rum Diary.
Based on the Hunter S Thompson novel, the film sees Depp as Paul Kemp, drunken journalist and womanizer who falls in love with another man’s girlfriend (Amber Heard).
Now we know it will be Eckhart playing the other man – Sanderson, a wealthy landowner who introduces Depp’s sozzled hack to a new standard of living.
Jenkins – also seen in Step Brothers – is the boss at the rundown newspaper that keeps Kemp in cash for alcohol.
Bruce Robinson adapted the script and starts shooting late March in Puerto Rico.

Great casting. Eckhart is a good choice with Sanderson.
Still can't understand how Depp is going to play a younger Thompson though.
