Aaron Paul stars in new trailer for Need For Speed: watch now

Pedal to the metal

A new full-length trailer has arrived online for Need For Speed, in which Aaron Paul’s street racer is out of prison and out for revenge…

The new film will see Paul’s character framed by the dastardly Dominic Cooper, who wastes little time in slapping a bounty on his old rival’s head as soon as he emerges from lockup.

The latest trailer is packed to the rafters with some truly incredible race sequences, as director Scott Waugh looks to top the OTT mayhem served up by the popular videogame series from which the film takes its name.

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

While the race sequences look deliriously enjoyable, the predominant tone seems to be deadly serious, with very little in the way of humour to be seen here. At least Michael Keaton seems to be having a whale of a time devouring the scenery…

Directed by Waugh and co-starring Imogen Poots, Dakota Johnson and Kid Cudi, Need For Speed will open in the UK on 14 March 2014.

While I think the action looks great and I'll give them props for a portentous trailer style (even if it doesn't completely work) the dialogue, voiceover and shots of mates laughing over "your momma" jokes were cliched before cinema was even invented.
