Abandoned Jurassic Park concept art reveals human-dinosaur hybrids

Freaky beasts based on an early script treatment

Jurassic Park 4 is gradually evolving its way through the development process, as Kathleen Kennedy sets writers to work on cracking the story.

While we’re going to have to wait a while to see that fourquel, the darkest corners of the internet have thrown up some baffling concept art, apparently based on an early screenplay by John Sayles.

The images (many of which bear an alarming resemblance to The Amazing Spider-Man’s Lizard), are wholly bizarre, featuring dinosaur-human hybrid creatures.

It’s hardly surprising that they were abandoned, given that they bear no relation to the mostly-based-on-science beasts of the original trilogy. The  deviation from the JP canon even has us questioning the legitimacy of this art.

While the raptor-man has plenty of horror potential, the giant triceratops-troll looks like something out of a cut-rate fantasy flick. And what's going on with that werewolf-Aquaman lovechild?

Check out the concept art below:

Jurassic Park 4 currently has a 2014 release pencilled in, but that will obviously depend on the completion of a script (which preferably doesn’t feature Spider-Man guest stars).

Are you glad this avenue was abandoned for the dinosaur sequel? Get discussing below…

Oh AWESOME. Looks more like an all out horror really. But also maybe a little too similar to Splice? Well it's not happening so that doesn't really matter, but part of me thinks that that's a shame.

Great art and nice concepts but I don't believe it was ever for the Jurassic Park series. The concept is way too out of character.

This is probably from that script floating about a few years back where the military had got involved. Basically they had dinosaurs roaming free and causing havoc so they spliced dino, human and dog DNA (dog to make them obedient) to go and fight the dinosaurs blah blah blah. That would have been awful. But this art would be great for a whole different film doing something similar, just not part of the JP world. I still want to see a film of Dino Riders.....

John Sayles is a brilliant writer and I suspect somewhere in the script development, his ideas got thrown out, diluted and butchered in favour of Jurassic Park : Ressurection.

they're ugly but the concept is kinda amazing, they fit well into the jurassic park line because if you imagine the notion of dinosaurs not being extinct, ie no big asteroid, they may well have evolved into humanoids. and the basis for the first book was a fear of genetic manipulation. sure, another trilogy of dino chase films would be awesome too but this concept has potential. ANYWAYS, since the original film came out there is loads of scientific evidence suggesting that many small therapods had feathers, especially velociraptors. i would not like to see feathered velociraptors.

One thing you'll always see on big screen creature design is that the creatures will always be ugly, go to http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/ Or http://massiveblack.com/mbwp/MbwhiteSplash.html Heck look at any creature from any video game. if it's not ugly it's considered not real. But I for one would have loved to have seen this film.. Animal-human solders working beside there human counter parts fighting the dinos for control. That would have been fun. Not an original plot device, there's a 10 part manga that has this very plot line. I would post a link but I can't remember what the name translates to in English. I would be nice to see Hollywood going outside the standard movie box.
