After rumours that various high profile actors were being considered for the title role of the 16th US president for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, it’s relative unknown Benjamin Walker who’s landed the gig.
Beating a number of high profile competitors – including Adrien Brody and Josh Lucas – Walker has closed a deal to play a kick-ass version of the president.
Vampire Hunter is an adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel, and will be directed by Wanted helmer Timur Bekmambetov, with Tim Burton producing.
Previously, Walker was the first actor cast in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class before he dropped out to star in Broadway musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opens on 22 June, 2012.
