Amid the various trailers, pics and teasers from Prometheus, The Dark Knight Rises and the year's other mega-movies, some of the best news we've been able to report this year was the confirmation of Anchorman 2.
Now that the project is officially up and running, attention has turned to potential plot lines, with director Adam McKay dropping a couple of intriguing nuggets concerning where the next film will find Ron and friends.
"I don't want to give away too much," says McKay, "but I'll just give a couple pieces of ideas that we’ve kicked around. Keep in mind we're still writing the story, but I'll say one phrase for you: custody battle. I'll give you that. I’ll give you one other one: bowling for dollars."
There we go, then. There could be a little Ron Burgundy in the offing. But does that mean that he and the lovely Veronica Corningstone are no longer an item? Or has Ron sired a child by another comely maiden?
Perhaps their custody battle will be played out through the medium of song, thus fulfilling the film's oft-rumoured musical element. The film isn't expected to open until 2013, so we'll have plenty of time to speculate. Lets just hope whatever they come up with is both compelling and rich...
