Alcon makes public Blade Runner 2 offer to Harrison Ford

"We would be honoured, and we are hopeful"

A Blade Runner sequel has supposedly been in the offing for years, but Alcon is looking to move things forward, with a very public offer to original star Harrison Ford.

Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have collaborated on a new script, to be directed by Ridley Scott, and it seems that the next step is to get Ford locked down to return.

"We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time," said Alcon co-founders Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove.

"We would be honoured, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project," continued the duo, in a joint statement that represents a highly unusual strategy of public courtship.

No word has yet emerged from Ford's representatives, with the actor currently beginning filming on Star Wars: Episode VII. Your move, Harrison...

A film that has not needed a sequel for 30 years plus now needs one? Come on there really is no need Blade Runner is just one of the best films of all time. If Prometheus is the standard for Ridley Scott sequels we should be very afraid.

Didn't Harrison Ford recently say he doesn't even like Blade Runner? Leave this well alone. See Indy 4.

Please Mr Ford don't do it. Ridley Scott only wants you in it so he can get you to say "I'm a replicant." If that happens a then a true classic would be forever tarnished and he should hang his head in shame for displaying a complete lack of reverence. He'll never 'replicate' what he made back in1982 because it was original. It had the perfect mix of characters, actors, story, visuals, mythology and soundtrack. Go ahead and make a sequel but please leave Deckard and his story out of it - no cheeky nods or references - just leave him out of it.
