Alex Pettyfer signs on to stripper film Magic Mike

Based on the life of Channing Tatum

Steven Soderbergh’s male stripper movie Magic Mike, inspired by Channing Tatum’s pre-Hollywood life, has landed its lead in the form of Britboy Alex Pettyfer.

Pettyfer will play Tatum, who entered the world of stripping when he was just 19 years old, years before his first starring role in a Hollywood production.

Meanwhile, Tatum himself will also appear in the film, but as the titular Mike, a dance teacher who shows Pettyfer’s Tatum some saucy moves. Which is surely going to be a weird experience for the actor.

Tatum pitched the idea for Mike to Soderbergh himself, with the director calling it “one of the best ideas I’ve ever heard for a movie”.

Here’s hoping the ending of Magic Mike has Pettyfer meeting an actor playing Soderberg with the idea of making a film about his life, and we get to see who’s cast as Pettyfer playing Tatum in the movie-within-a-movie. Great, now our head hurts.

As Channing Tatum isn't gay, I can see a significant problem with there being a gay sex scene in a biographical film of him that he's involved with (though as Pettyfer's playing him, would bring a new meaning to the phrase go f**k yourself)... dalidab, I knew you weren't going to take long to land on this story like a ton of sweaty bricks, but you need to stop going on about guys that look about 14. And walk far away from the Dante/Nero wet dream...

So you 'just like young men who look 14.' Says it all really. This is an internet forum about movies, there's absolutely zero reason for me to bring my sexuality into it, or for you to bring yours into it. I only brought mine up last time because you implied I was homophobic for criticising your apparent liking for young boys. I'd still have criticised you if you were straight, and slobbering in the same amount of detail over adolescent teenage actresses. Simply put, I think you're creepy as f**k, and I couldn't give a damn if you're offended or not.

Oh and you really shouldn't say you like young men who look underage a post after saying you liked the Heart is Deceitful above all things. You're not doing yourself any favours.

I'm not getting on at anyone else, I'm perfectly calm. I agree with a lot of the stuff you say from a film fan perspective, but I still think you're creepy. Saying you 'like guys that look 14' doesn't change my mind.

I didn't say you were a bad person and I didn't say you've hurt people, and I'm not judging anybody else. Just think about what you say before you type, and talk about the films and actors in slightly less pornographic terms.
