All You Need Is Kill renamed as Edge Of Tomorrow

And there’s a first official poster too

Tom Cruise’s forthcoming sci-fi vehicle All You Need Is Kill has undergone a title change, with the film now to be referred to as Edge Of Tomorrow.
The new title fits in quite nicely with the film’s time-loop plot, as Tom Cruise’s military man finds himself reliving his last day over and over again during an interplanetary war.
All You Need Is Kill was certainly a cool title, but Edge Of Tomorrow does sit a little better with the Groundhog Day-esque premise.
Meanwhile the film has released a first official poster (complete with the updated title) featuring Cruise’s character (or so we assume) in some extremely badass battle armour.

Directed by Doug Liman and co-starring Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton and Charlotte Riley, Edge Of Tomorrow will open in the US on 6 June 2014, with a UK date to be confirmed.

'All you need is kill' is a weird but pretty impactful title - 'Edge of tomorrow' on the other hand is neutered and boring - sounds like definitely something a committee came up with. All you need is kill would make more sense on that poster....

I hope the plot makes way for something meaningful (like the obvious comparison, Source Code) rather than just being a bigger budgeted version of something that could easily fit into your standard 45 minute sci-fi filler episode.

at first I thought, good All You Need is Kill was awful, and Edge of Tomorrow was much better. But, you know what, I was wrong. fowley is right. Edge of Tomorrow is dull dull dull, It sound like a bad Bond from the Brosnan era. While grammatically, All You Need is Kill, makes you question if it is a typo, it does suggest far more depth than the marketing departments suggestion of Edge of Tomorrow. Have some balls, ignore the marketing handbook!

It does smack of about 3 episodes of star trek all mixed together. But thats no bad thing.

all you need is kill is the name of the novel this is based on (which i think was written before source code). Think they should have stuck with that. the main character is supposed to be about 23 yrs old I seem to recall, as he's just a grunt. Tom cruise should be a general at his age and not on the battlefield!

Yeah Edge of Tomorrow seems kinda generic, All You Need Is Kill suits the premise of the movie better IMO.

All you need is kill, sounds like a bond parody, and is quite possibly the dumbest name I can think of the edge of tomorrow, only sounds generic in comparison because the alternative is so ridiculous.
