Paint it slack: Paramount announces movie based on tagging video game…

BY Total Film Dec 9th 2005 0:00AMFILED UNDER: Movie news

Paramount and MTV films obviously think there’s money in daubing paint across city walls. They’re developing a movie based on a new Atari video game called Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure.

The game – which hasn’t even hit the streets yet – is set in the city of New Radius, a world where freedom of expression is suppressed and graffiti has been outlawed by a tyrannical city government. In the game, the player assumes the role of Trane as you learn and master various graffiti skills and journey from toy (beginner) to legend. During their quest, players find themselves with an even greater burden - to use their high-wire graffiti talents to expose the oppressive mayor and rid the city of his stranglehold.

You heard it here first, folks: graffiti for justice! The game features the tonsil talents of a wide variety of thesping types including Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy, George Hamilton, Giovanni Ribisi and Adam West. But there’s no cast for the movie announced yet. Or a script. Or a director. So it’ll be a bit of a wait, then.
