Ant-Man to undergo rewrites to fit into Marvel Universe

And Kevin Feige talks casting

Given all the hoo-ha over the advent of The Avengers and the Phase 2 push spearheaded by Iron Man 3, poor old Ant-Man can occasionally be neglected in favour of its more imminent movie siblings.

Having been delayed and delayed as Marvel’s plans evolved around it, Ant-Man is currently scheduled to arrive at the end of 2015, but Kevin Feige has revealed that some more work will need to be done to the script to account for the changes to the rest of the Marvel cinematic universe.

“Frankly, now we have to rewrite it to put it a little bit more into the [Marvel cinematic universe],” explains Feige, “because it was written before it existed.

“[Edgar Wright] has done a great job being incredibly true to the comics but is putting his own spin on it, so we’ll be drawing on multiple mythologies for this one.”

Given that the original script has been knocking about for quite some time now, it makes sense that Marvel would want to give it a bit of an update before finally beginning on the issue of casting, an issue Feige also has a thing or two to say about...

“We’ve talked about various names over the past eight years,” muses Feige, “but as you can imagine, they keep changing as time goes by. But toward the end of this year, we’ll buckle down and start casting and start refining the script.”

Directed by Wright, Ant-Man is expected to open in the US on 6 November 2015, with a UK date to be confirmed (but likely to be around the same time).

What are you hoping to see from Wright's Ant-Man? Any casting suggestions? Tell us, below!

As long as Edgar is still the director and Cornish is still working on the script I don't mind.

I saw the test footage that was leaked on the internet a while back, and it was very promising; the suit, the size altering and the tone all worked - i'm glad this is taking it's time, I think a character like Ant-man needs it, or risk being the new Fantastic Four or Ghost Rider
