Arnie offered a role in Predators?

And it’s on course as a sequel, not a remake…

Seems Robert Rodriguez wants to recruit Arnold Schwarzenegger back to the Predator franchise.

Despite his busy schedule trying to sort out California’s budget worries, Governor Schwarzenegger is still very much in demand.

Moviehole reports that Rodriguez’ team have reached out to the Governator’s people to inquire whether he’d appear in a cameo as Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer in Predators.

And don’t go thinking this is a remake of the original…. “They’ve written a role for him,” a second source tells the site. “Rodriguez is as against the idea of a straight-up remake as much as anyone – which is why they’re considering this an official sequel to John McTiernan’s film. Like Terminator, they know Schwarzenegger’s a vital ingredient of the franchise. Ideally, Arnold will see it that way too. Ball is in his court now”.

Apparently it’ll serve as a quasi-sequel, similar to Star Trek, though likely not playing around with the movie’s timeline like JJ Abrams did with Kirk and co…

Sounds intriguing to us – we’re warming up to the idea as we learn more…

Do you want to see Predators? Think it can be better than AVP?

i can imagine they'll have a simple role for him, as like an advisor about the predator's due to him kicking one's a**e

I hope he's involved somehow and I'm glad Rodriguez is against the idea of a "remake", to me it just says that the film world is too lazy to think of anything new so they mess around with the good stuff!

I'd quite like to see him as a government 'prisoner', not allowed out in public due to his contact and knowledge with the Predator, like properly sub-dued and buggered up, totally the opposite of how he was in Predator. Plus, i don't know why but i'd like them to come up with a genus name forhte predator, after aliens were classified as xenomoprhs weren't they?

i think if they ask arnie whether to include him he'll say 'come on, do it! do it now! i'm right here, do it, come on, do it!'

Woo, and indeed, hoo! A sequel is infinitely preferable to a remake. I'm so pleased that Rodriguez seems to be on the same page as the rest of us. The original is a perfect movie of its type and we don't need a 'reboot' of it. This might actually be something worth getting excited about.

Cool. Would like to seem him tracked down by the protaganists, talk to them about his encounter, warn them etc... could be quite poignant if the right music/script is good. As long as he doesn't decide to tag along with them, it will be cool...

Yeah .. a remake of the original predator film would have lead to me attempting to slit my wrist with a spoon .. > if it ain't broke .. don't try to fix it .. or remake it in this case .. >> So i'm excited that Rodriguez is making a new predator film .. a sequel .. not a remake .. If Arnie's onboard .. thank u god, allah, jesus, buddha, tom cuise ..
