After psychological thriller Bug and upcoming complicated immigration drama Crossing Over, it looks like Ashley Judd’s not looking to make life any easier for the characters she plays on screen.
She’s just signed on to star in Helen, which finds a music professor sunk into the depths of a terrible depression. Her family and colleagues try to help her, but only a young female student seems to be able to feel her pain, a girl who has been through some serious problems of her own.
Sandra Nettelbeck, who penned Mostly Martha, has written the script and will step behind the camera to direct the movie for Egoli Tossell Film (no, we’ve never heard of them either). She’ll kick off shooting this October in Vancouver.
