Sam Worthington is gearing up to return to the magical world of Pandora by smearing himself in blue paint and chatting to James Cameron on the phone. Part of this statement isn’t true.
But most of it is true, and it seems Sam’s chat with Cameron about Avatar 2 has got him fairly excited.
"I spoke to James recently and he told me the story and it's monumental,” Worthington said. “It's just a matter of him writing the script, piecing it together and figuring out how to push himself.”
"He wants a challenge. And he wants to improve the audience's experience. He's been messing about with 3D and frame rates a lot more.”
Which all sounds very technical to us. But there’s every chance Worthington's talking about Cameron’s plans to double the cinematic frame-rate that’s been standard since the 1920s, taking it from 24 frames per second to 48 frames per second, allowing his modified fusion 3D cameras to capture movement and detail with more clarity, and in the process inadvertently disproving Jean-Luc Godard's 1960 statement that the cinema is truth twenty-four times a second.
But that’s just guesswork on our part.
It all sounds very exciting – if Avatar 2 is as big a leap as the one Cameron made from Terminator to Terminator 2 (Cameron’s last sequel, not including Titanic 2 which we totally assume he directed) we could be in for something very special indeed.

If Cameron was to improve the audience's experience then try giving us an original f@#king script! 3D and higher res only make a sh#t story worse, not magically better.
