Avengers on set destruction captured

Superhero smackdown preps collapsed buildings and trashed cars

Executive producer Patty Whitcher promised that the Cleveland shoot for Marvel's The Avengers would end with a bang, and it certainly seems to be heading that way.

Whitcher's “six days of mayhem” “with lots of explosions and car flipping” could be what's being prepped right now, as a street scene dressed to be New York has squashed cars and building debris lifted into place.

They say a picture tells a thousand words, so it should take you quite a while to read through these four images.

Personally, we reckon they shout just two words: "Hulk smash!"

The Avengers opens 4 May 2012.

Joss Whedon knows what he's doing when it comes to comic books. I heard he not only is a huge Marvel fanboy, he also did extensive research on the all of the previous Marvel movie installments in the hope that there will be no loop holes or plot disparities. I'm confident that this movie will hold up to not only the comic book fans standards, but average movie goers as well. And personally, I'm super stoked to see Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. That little glimpse in Thor gave me goosebumps.
