Babylon 5 creator to pen Forbidden Planet

Michael Straczynski jumps on board remake

Babylon 5 creator Michael Straczynski is writing a script for Joel Silver’s remake of Forbidden Planet.

Warner Bros. picked up the project earlier on this year, after a deal with David Twohy (Chronicles of Riddick) fell through at DreamWorks.

Prior to that, James Cameron, Nelson Gidding and Stirling Silliphant were associated with the flick.

Babylon creator in demand

Buzz surrounding Straczynski has soared after reviews positively received his script for Clint Eastwood’s Changeling.

In the sci-fi world, he is better known for TV shows Babylon 5 and Jeremiah, and Ninja Assassin for Silver and the Wachowski Brothers.

Straczynski is also working on The Flickering Light and Lensman with Ron Howard, and They Marched Into Sunlight for Paul Greengrass. Wow. And we thought we were overworked.

JMS is a Legend, his template for B5 should be appliend to every Tv show comissioned, I dont mean put every tv show on a spacestation shaped like a toilet roll, but plotting out 5 years worth of story in advance rather than write from season to season. Im not keen on remakes but I have trust in this man.
