Barry Sonnenfeld – last seen behind the camera for Robin Williams comedy RV - has been attached to direct The Spellman Files for Paramount.
Based on Lisa Lutz’s novel, the plot finds a single private eye who must deal with running the family detective business while also trying to keep up with her dating life.
Bobby Florsheim and Josh Stolberg penned the adaptation, but the film is now facing competition from several other projects floating in Sonnenfeld’s sights.
He’s also attached to How To Guide for MGM, Bronwyn And Clyde, New Line’s Dan Mintner: Badass For Hire and a possible ‘toon for DreamWorks, Gil’s All Fright Diner.
And if that wasn’t enough, there’s his TV work, including helming a pilot for Lauren Graham and developing other projects.
Plus, now that Sony wants to reheat the Men In Black series, chances are he might be asked to return to the director’s chair for that.
Are you eager for more from Sonnenfeld? Or did RV make you think twice?
