Batman vs Superman delayed until 2016

Man of Steel 2 now up against Marvel's Phase 3

Arguably the biggest superhero blockbuster on Hollywood's schedule has hit production problems.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that DC's mega-movie Batman vs Superman (AKA Man of Steel 2) has been delayed until 6 May 2016.

The delay of nearly ten months has been attributed to let the studio "allow the filmmakers time to realise fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story."

While fans will debate the pros and cons of delaying DC's biggest superhero property, it certainly gives credence to the rumours that Warner Bros. are planning to film Batman vs Superman and Justice League of America back-to-back.

Not only that, but it's a stated and inflammatory move of intention by DC - the new release date is the same as an as-yet-unnamed Marvel Phase 3 movie. The box office gloves are definitely off.

As for the summer 2015 release date previously assigned to the blockbuster, Warner Bros. have now shifted Joe Wright's as-yet-untitled Peter Pan movie into its place.

Arguably the most over talked about superhero blockbuster on Hollywood's schedule, is still going to be terrible

@batt101 We can't really judge it until we have seen it. Having it delayed means they can work more on the script and have more time thinking about how it can work.

This just adds to my suspicion that there are serious problems with this film 2015 is better without it

The problems being that Batman and Wonder Woman are in it. If it's supposed to be a Superman movie, make it a Superman movie. Drop in Bats and WW in a mid-credits sequence for a lead in to JLA. This isn't a MoS sequel. My expectations of this are scarily low.

I'm not overly excited by this film. I liked Man of Steel, but it wasn't as good as it could have been. I was hoping that any sequel would improve on it (assuming that is even possible given that Snyder would still be in the directors chair), but throwing Batman and possibly Wonder Woman in there too, isn't a good idea at all. As a fan of Superman, it frustrates me that Warner Brothers are doing this in an attempt to cash in on The Avengers success, rather than allow Superman his own sequel.

You know for all the fears I have about too many characters being thrown into the movie I've forgotten Snyder already directed Watchmen, IMO Zack did a really good job with handling those characters so who's to say he won't be able to find the right balance for MOS2 or JLA.
