Battleship is the latest game adaptation
Peter Berg sinks our hopes for an end to the madness

Well, it’s better than Candy Land: looks like US games titan Hasbro’s version of Battleship will be floating on to our screens.
Yes, it’s another instalment of Hollywood’s current obsession with turning board games into movies as Peter Berg is discussing the idea of helming – literally – a film based on the ship-sinking classic.
In the game, of course, you aim to destroy your opponent’s fleet by guessing where their ships are sitting on a grid.
Apparently Universal wants Jon and Erich Hoeber to turn that idea into “an epic naval adventure,” as they’re busy writing the script.
While it’s certainly an easier sell than whatever Ridley Scott has been trying to dream up for Monopoly, and the title has name recognition, we’re still not sure why the studio couldn’t track down an original tale of sea-faring action.
