Believe it or not, Ripley's back

Burton and Carrey’s bulbous budgeted biopic is back in development

Budgets scaled to over $150 million. The script was being re-jigged almost on a daily basis. Eventually the studio had enough and shelved Tim Burton’s Ripley’s Believe It Or Not.

Now it seems the suits at Paramount have found a scribbler to keep Carrey and Burton happy in Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty). The key-tapper has known the putty-faced gag-slinger since his days on In Living Colour and also wrote and helmed the second Ace Ventura flick.

Tim Burton gave the scribe two thumbs up and now Ripley’s will shoot in late 2008. The tale follows oddity hunter and adventurer Ripley as he travels the world and is expected to arrive in cinemas sometime in 2009.
