The prestigious annual festival, which kicks off on 13 October, has just revealed its entire schedule of programming, and features a record number of female filmmakers.
While British filmmakers are well represented by Mike Leigh’s new film Another Year alongside Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours (which is closing the festival on 28 October), over 50 female directors will be showing their movies at the festival.
The event, which will screen 197 feature films and 112 shorts, will consist of 11 world premieres that should get all the A-listers out in their poshest party frocks.
A number of Cannes biggies will be present, including Uncle Boonme Who Can Recall His Past Lives, Biutiful and Of Gods And Men, as well as Freida Pinto’s aweome-looking Miral.
And that’s just the beginning. Along with a vast selection of movies from all corners of the globe, a number of masterclasses will also be held. Screen Talks has nabbed the talented likes of Darren Aronofsky and Mark Romanek, while there will also be a forum on how to helm a book adap.
