Blunt is The Girl In The Park

The Devil Wears Prada star signs up for stage scribbler’s helming debut

Having been part of this summer’s surprise box office package in David Frankel’s fashion mag-based dramedy The Devil Wears Prada, we expect a few doors to swing open for Brit star Emily Blunt.

Getting in there early is playwright David Auburn who has snapped Blunt up to feature in his directorial debut The Girl In The Park, opposite Susan Sarandon.

The tale follows a woman called Julia Sandburg (Sarandon) who has distanced herself from her friends and family since her three year-old daughter went missing 15 years ago. When Julia befriends a mixed-up young woman called Louise (Blunt) she begins to fixate on the fact that she could be her long lost daughter.

Auburn will shoot from his own script and is set to kick off production in New York later this year.
